PnP: Harm reduction for 2SGBTQ+ men navigating sex and drugs

Some Two-Spirit, gay, bisexual, trans and queer (2SGBTQ+) guys use drugs to facilitate or enhance sexual encounters, which is commonly referred to as party and play (PnP). The benefits that many 2SGBTQ+ guys report from PnP experiences, such as improved confidence and ability to explore their sexual interests, co-exist with a vulnerability to sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs), but these can be decreased with harm reduction and safer sex practices.

To respond to the need for harm reduction and sexual health information among guys who PnP, GMSH (Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance) and CATIE developed Your Party & Play Field Guide. This comprehensive resource was designed to empower 2SGBTQ+ men with the knowledge and tools to enhance their well-being and reduce the potential harms that may come up during PnP, including getting or passing on an infection, overdose and drug toxicity. It was developed with the intention of providing those who PnP a non-judgmental, balanced and relatable resource that speaks to the reality of their experiences.

This webinar will provide an overview of PnP in 2SGBTQ+ communities, and discuss the need for a tailored approach to providing sexual health and harm reduction information for guys who PnP.
