PrEP and PEP delivery: Mobilizing HIV prevention in community

Presented in partnership with Indigenous Services Canada and CATIE

Advances in HIV prevention have led to medications that can prevent HIV transmission before or after potential exposure, known as pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP and PEP). While these tools have been available for years in some Indigenous communities, they have not been effectively mobilized to reach people who could benefit most.

This webinar will explore how community health providers working in Indigenous communities can integrate PrEP and PEP into their practice as part of broader holistic approaches to health and wellness. It will include an overview of the HIV landscape among Indigenous Peoples in Canada and share insights into how nurses and other community health providers have incorporated PrEP into primary care. Speakers will also discuss new pathways to culturally responsive PrEP and PEP delivery, highlighting the key role of community healthcare workers and non-clinical service providers in ensuring Indigenous People can navigate healthcare systems and access the prevention tools they need.

Moderator: Shriya Hari, CATIE
