Moderation policy

CATIE offers many ways for people to engage us and one another online, through our social media platforms, the CATIE Blog and other avenues. We encourage users to express a wide range of opinions and to question or comment on the content we publish.

To ensure that these channels are respectful places for everyone to participate in and contribute to, we ask that users adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Stay on topic and be concise.
  • Respect other people.
  • Don’t post hateful comments that target individuals or groups on the basis of race, religion, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other personal characteristic.
  • Don’t reveal personal details about yourself or others, such as contact information.
  • Don’t post promotional content.
  • Post in English or in French. Unfortunately we don’t have the resources to moderate comments in other languages.

Comments will not be published instantly. They will be checked first by moderators who will monitor the site during normal working hours and aim to process comments as quickly as possible.

We reserve the right to remove comments that don’t adhere to these guidelines. If you have any questions about these guidelines, or about a comment we have moderated, please get in touch with us at abrett@catie.ca.
