This information session will provide foundational knowledge about human papillomavirus (HPV), including how it is transmitted and approaches to prevention, vaccination, screening and treatment. It will also examine HPV’s role in causing certain cancers, such as anal and cervical cancer. The session will explore HPV epidemiology in Canada and the impact on populations at higher risk of HPV-related cancers, including gay, bi and other men who have sex with men (gbMSM), as well as people living with HIV.
Participants will learn effective strategies to support the delivery of sexual health services for this common sexually transmitted infection, including a deeper understanding of the role frontline providers play in supporting prevention and care, as well as facilitating access to vaccination, testing and cancer screening.
