Robert Alsberry

Director, Ontario and Nunavut region

Robert Alsberry is a registered nurse who moved to Ontario in 2016. Since arriving, his professional work has focused on applying a health equity lens to Black, LGBTQ+ and HIV issues. This includes his present role as MAX Ottawa’s communications and outreach coordinator, co-facilitating Keeping it 100, a peer discussion group for African, Caribbean and Black gay, bisexual, trans and queer men, and serving as a steering committee member of the Black Gay Men’s Network of Ontario. He has also contributed to the African and Caribbean Council on HIV/AIDS in Ontario (AACHO), the Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN), the Gay Men's Sexual Health Alliance (GMSH) and other allied organizations’ initiatives.

His lived experience as a Black, queer male living with HIV informs all of his work.

Prior to moving to Ontario, he worked as a visiting nurse case manager and massage therapist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
