To improve awareness of and attitudes towards sexual health among Aboriginal youth in urban areas in order to reduce risky behavior and prevent STIs

To prevent unplanned pregnancies, STIs and intimate partner violence among Aboriginal youth by encouraging them to better communicate better in their intimate relationships

Young Aboriginal peoples aged 10 to 29 living in urban centres, outside of the communities where they were born

Recruitment

The program recruits participants primarily through the Native Friendship Centres when Aboriginal youth drop in to use their services

Challenges

Recruiting Aboriginal youth, finding capable facilitators comfortable with workshop content and following up with participants in remote areas

Evaluation

Comparing pre- and post-workshop knowledge assessments and discussions to obtain feedback from participants
