Denise Thomas

Denise Thomas is an executive committee member with the Canadian Association of Hepatology Nurses (CAHN). She has extensive clinical, project management and leadership roles in HIV and hepatitis C prevention, treatment and care. In 2003 she implemented the role of the nurse at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS Immunodefiency Clinic and. From 2005-2010 she lived and worked in Sub-Saharan Africa; working with the Clinton Foundation and developed the first HCV treatment program. International experience as Clinical HIV Nurse Mentor and Regional HIV Clinical Support Advisor in Lesotho, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Malawi and India. From 2010-2016 she worked with Health Canada and the First Nations Health Authority as Clinical Nurse Specialist in HIV/HCV and is on the World Hepatitis Day Vancouver Committee. She is currently Nursing Faculty in BC; current nursing research in Peer Mentorship and HCV and consulting with Theko Consulting in Vancouver, BC.
